Wax Journal lists two places in Munich where the records come first: one listening bar, one record store and one hi-fi café. Some are more than one of those at once. There is somewhere to dig in the afternoon and somewhere to sit down after. Every place was chosen by hand, and each page has its opening hours and address. If you know another door in Munich worth opening, send it to us.

Modelled on the Japanese jazz kissa tradition, this Glockenbachviertel listening bar centres on a restored pair of JBL 4341 studio monitors from 1975 and a floor-to-ceiling vinyl wall built for up to 2,000 records. Cocktails lean Japanese in character, alongside sake, beer and wine. On Fridays and Saturdays, guests pass freely into the adjacent Goldener Reiter club.
